Ø Further Assessment Opportunities
Reassessment · A maximum of one further opportunity for assessment of a standard can be provided within a year. It does not mean one must be offered. Resubmission · A resubmission opportunity should only be offered where a teacher judges that a mistake has been made by the student, which the student should be capable of discovering and correcting themselves. · A resubmission should be limited to specific aspects of the assessment and no more than one resubmission should be provided.
Ø AC English Assessment Procedures
For more specific detail relating to the assessment and moderation procedures in the English Learning Area refer to the document entitled AC ENGLISH LEARNING AREA MANUAL that can be found on the ‘T’ drive (and each member has a copy).
1 In almost all cases, assessment work in progress stays at school. The obvious exception is oral assessment rehearsal which may be done at home. 2 Assessments are to be drafted and completed on refill – not in English books for the above reason, as well as for ease of collecting for marking, and for storage. 3 All Graded Assessments will have common assessment schedules and will be graded E, M, A or N in line with AC policy. 4 After marking 3 learners’ scripts, all staff should consult the HOLA/HOL, or Learning Leader i/c, to ensure the standard is consistent. This should be done BEFORE marking the whole class.
5 On completion, the HOLA/HOL, or Learning Leader i/c, should be given a range of graded assessments to check. (ie 1 of each grade) 6 After moderation, Graded Assessments should be returned to the students who should have the opportunity to check, reflect, record the grade, sign the assessment paper beside the grade. 7 Learning Leaders must enter all grades on KAMAR on completion. (HOLA, Asst HOLs or Learning Leader i/c to set up) 8 Learning Leaders must print the class’s grades from KAMAR. This list must be put in a plastic bag with the learners’ scripts sorted in ALPHABETICAL ORDER and given to the HOLA/HOL, or Learning Leader i/c. 9 Signed assessments will be stored in each class’s labelled assessment box in the storage facility until the end of the following year.
10 Assessment information obtained from KAMAR should be analysed by all Learning Leaders to ascertain: · How that class is performing in comparison to the Year Level · How the girls and boys are performing in comparison to all girls, all boys and the Year Level · How NEW ZEALAND MAORI learners are performing in comparison to the Year Level · How NEW ZEALAND EUROPEAN learners are performing in comparison to the Year Level · How PASIFIKA learners are performing in comparison to the Year Level ··How learners of OTHER ethnicities are performing in comparison to the Year Level
